after oodles of dungeon running and selling off goods and banking what was leftover i looked in and found myself flush. it was time to finish off my hom armor grind. all of the 3 eotn armors for the dervish are super inexpensive so they made the most sense to get.

prestige armor get: asura armor

prestige armor get: norn armor

resilience +2 hom - 5 armor statues

with no further planned armors to acquire, that freed up the rest of my financial resources to become devoted to weaponsmithing.

onward and upward!

adventures unfinished

lately ive been having trouble making the time to sit down and play videogames and then also to sit down and post more images to this log

to make matters worse, gw2 launches tonight and im still 2 missions away from completing winds of change (normal mode (theres no way im gonna do hard mode woc after gw2 drops)).

my plan is to eventually come back and finish off those last 2 winds of change missions and also continue to finish filling out this log. ive got a lot of really cool stuff to show and a ton of screenshots left to post, and itd be a shame to not do that just because gw2 game out. in addition i also plan to make a new players log for gw2— but probably not right away.

i enjoyed killing duncan the black so much the second time i went and did the entire slavers exile all over again that same evening. the only reason why i stopped was because, as much as i was enjoying all the challenges presented in the sub-dungeons inside slavers exile and the thrill of reaching duncan and slaying him, i really needed to get back on track and gather hom points.

doing slavers exile 3 times in a row will get you a lot of items and gold to sell, which in turn meant i was pretty flush and ready to go out and buy more hom points. its not all displayed, but in total i managed to scrounge my way up to 17 hero statues. the last 3 would be for anton, and then two more statues for getting the black moa.

fellowship +1 hom - 10 companion statues

i had my sights set on getting 2 eye of the north reps maxxed out for hom. in which case it is most prudent then to have a master dungeon guide turned in for each rep i would doing. the boost you get for a completed normal mode master dungeon guide is 40k rep, but you will need to plan ahead as you cant use the normal guide books past 80k rep. however, since the total rep value you are aiming for overall is 160k, this will put you within 40k of youre final target, which is quite better than having to farm 80k rep in hard mode.

in all a full book is nothing to scoff at. but it also means doing duncan the black again. this time i was prepared.

slaver’s exile is for all purposes an elite dungeon, whereas i may dislike fendi nin on normal mode, its still just a matter of micromanaging the pulls and my heroes to overcome him. on normal mode slaver’s exile is a real challenge.

and thats part of why i liked it.

finally, my last prophecies mission to complete before acquiring the protector title. much like the rest of prophecies, im not sure whats goin on or why anything is happening, but what i do notice is rurik is back alive. just like jesus.

really makes you think, doesnt it?

title get: protector of tyria

while i got the reward for 10 titles in a prior post, this is the first time i got the reward for the ‘kind of a big deal’ title track. huzzah!

with total disregard for the timeline of the prophecies campaign, i kill alive rurik at this point in time after killing his undead form much earlier.

rurik was painfully harmed during the recording of this encounter.

i had started and finished my long vanquish of the desolation areas of elona a long time ago, but doing desolation had sapped my will to finish vanquishing elona. but time had come to roll up my sleeves and finish what i had started.

sometimes i got lucky and a friend would tag along and help break up the monotony. sometimes i got lucky and a zaishen daily was something i had to vanquish anyway and did it.

but in general i have one peice of advice for all you guild wars players out there: dont vanquish. just dont. the moneys not very good for the amount of time you spend and its way way easier to get a reputation title than it is to vanquish an entire campaign. you get to see a lot of interesting sights along the way for sure, but you can get the same sights on normal mode trying to do cartographer.

but i kind of dont like cartographer either. im still at 98% explored for elona right now and i just dont have any desire to finish it off.

title get: elonian vanquisher
honor +1 hom - 10 titles

at this point i was at 16 hom. numerically its a half way point to my goal of 30, but in terms of time i soon found out that it was closer to being only a 1/3 of the way through. hom is devious that usually each point you get makes the next point harder to get, once you start getting to the 30 range your options are limited to collecting resources and performing challenges that only dedicated players who have been playing since before the gw2 hype train took off.

with this in mind i had to carefully plan what kind of hom points i would focus on unlocking, since it would be very easy to focus a lot of time an effort to get a specific goal only to have it fall up short.

first, i had to get the last easy hom point reward: the rare and normal minipet. a friend donated a koss miniature for me to grab, and then i also acquired a normal minipet on the trade channel.

devotion +1 hom: normal miniature statue
devotion +1 hom: rare miniature statue

having taken care of that, i decided that eotn dungeons would be a fun way to accumulate hom. there are a series of 18 eotn dungeons, which 17 are entirely optional, which means that i would be seeing mostly new content, and of the few i had done up til then most were interesting and enjoyable. plus if i was lucky i could pick up a zaishen daily for a specific dungeon and get some bonus rewards on the side. most important of all the rewards for finishing an entire master dungeon guide were astounding: 40k rep and 8 plat for normal mode.
